Heidi and Rockit’s Litter – Week Seven

Mr. Chocolate Fudge out for a romp!

“Titanium”

Timing was crucial if her mission stood any chance of success as she assumed her primary position around the back of the target. With the precision and agility of a Navy SEAL, she sprang into action, her lithe, powerful legs churning. One, two, three…..Geronimo! She was in place. And now to explain:  our dear Whitney whose own litter has long since gone to their new homes, is the self-appointed surrogate to not only Sierra’s litter, but also Heidi’s. What she does is run to the far end of the whelping box to attract the puppies’ attention. Once they’re all in place, Whitney runs to the opposite end of the box, leaps up onto the sofa and catapults herself into the whelping box in order to nurse Heidi’s puppies. Occasionally the puppies catch on so Whitney enlists Sierra’s aid as the decoy to allow her the time to get into position to jump into the box. We haven’t quite figured out if Whitney just has a magnanimous character or nipples made of titanium. And where is Heidi throughout all of this, you might ask? She is lounging on the cool floor in the adjoining room, of course.

The puppies have a benevolent nature about them too. They welcomed two houseguests from Sierra’s litter: their friends Miss Cosmopolitan who has since gone to her new home in Calgary and Miss Limoncello who will be leaving on Sunday. The gang had a tremendous amount of fun together this past week. On rainy days, they had a hall pass to play indoors with their deluxe play station and ball pool. Once they discovered just what kind of treasures awaited them, they wasted no time in diving into the pool sending balls scattering about the entire space and making a big racket banging around the activity centre. Everyone had a blast! On the flip side though, it would appear that Miss Blueberry Tart didn’t read the sign about not peeing in the pool. Shhhhhh!

Where last week’s outdoor adventures were all about rocks, this week’s outdoor theme was sticks, sticks and more sticks. There were sticks for one, sticks for two and even group sticks. All the moms were around too; either chaperoning, providing liquid refreshments to the group or even just getting involved in the action with some sticks of their own. Heidi’s litter had the profound gift of having three adoring mothers caring for them.

As our time together winds down, we reflect on all the love, happiness and kisses we’ve shared. These are memories we’ll treasure forever. As you go along your journey with your new families, think of us sometimes and remember, “What a wonderful world it is”. So long, little ones!

That concludes this edition of “Puppy Tales”.  See you next litter!

Jazz & Olivia Pups – 7 Week Birthday

Another Fabulous Week! What a week it’s been! The weather has been beautiful, and the pups have enjoyed every minute of it outdoors. Their confidence is blossoming, and they’re full of fun and personality. Momma Olivia remains completely devoted to her babies. She’s never far from them and even whimpers when separated for any length of time. Her maternal instincts are truly heartwarming. This week’s standout moment? Miss Magenta decided to show off her stealth skills—not once, but twice—by sneaking up and stealing my iPhone straight from my pocket! To make it even more hilarious, my phone is also magenta, so seeing her prance around proudly with a matching accessory in her mouth had us laughing out loud. We’re seeing more and more of the pups’ personalities shine through. They are playful, confident, and curious. After each meal, when the door of their whelping box opens to the backyard, they march out one by one like little soldiers. After about 20 minutes of play, they line up at the...

Jazz and Olivia’s Puppies – 6 Weeks Old Today!

Jazz and Olivia’s Puppies – 6 Weeks Old Today!  Time is flying! It’s such a joy to watch these puppies grow and thrive — and their outdoor adventures are becoming more lively by the day. With the weather finally cooling down, the pups are enjoying more frequent time outside, and we've even set up a mini obstacle course to help build their confidence as they explore new sights, sounds, and textures. They’ve quickly caught on to our routine: lunch, then playtime! Like clockwork, they start to cry out in chorus — a little lunchtime symphony — knowing what’s coming next. As soon as we open the French doors to their private yard and unlatch the whelping box, they march right out, ready for action. The only challenge now? Getting them back inside! It’s become a full-on game of “Catch Me If You Can!” The pups are now weighing in at a healthy 10 to 12 pounds and have tremendous appetites. Each one is enjoying about 7 oz per meal, totalling approximately 21 oz of food daily. Their die...
