Whitney and Jazz’s Litter – Week Four

Exploring the great outdoors!

“Oh Tannenbaum”

He awoke from his slumber to find that he was in a place that was unfamiliar to him. A gentle breeze tickled his whiskers. He feared not because he was not alone. And so began the gang’s first outdoor adventure as experienced by Mr. Buff. A rather brave bunch, the puppies wasted no time taking in their surroundings and searching for things to amuse themselves with. For the most part it was their sibling, but they made careful note of some things to take a closer look at on their next outing. In the meantime, Whitney assumed the role of a sentinel. As she stood there majestically surveying her flock, the puppies saw an opportunity and seized it. They quietly lined up on either side of their mom, got up on their tiptoes and fastened themselves to Whitney’s dangling milk bar apparatus like furry white tinsel hanging off a Christmas tree.

There’s no doubt that Whitney is rather delighted by the fact that her puppies are receiving three square meals of mush a day now. This means a bit of a reprieve from each puppy’s twenty-eight razor sharp teeth so that Whitney need only provide dessert. Since their food is getting a bit drier over time, the puppies are now drinking water as well to help keep them hydrated.

Their indoor activities have proved to be just as much fun. With an elaborate play station (no batteries required) at their disposal, the little ones are developing their strength, co-ordination and cognitive skills as well as learning how to engage in an activity with a littermate. Mr. Raven loves to play hide and seek in the plush dog house, darting in one opening and out the other to the astonishment of his siblings. So far, their cheerful banter has not disturbed the solitude of their neighbours. Sierra and her brood now share the same postal code as next-door neighbours.  Little do they realize that a giant play fest may well be on the horizon once Sierra’s group is old enough.

When everything is said and done and daylight begins to ebb, the little ones enjoy being caressed as the sandman comes to visit. They’ll get rejuvenated for another playtime and whatever adventures the new day will bring.

That’s it for now, but be sure to join us next week for another heart-warming installment of “Puppy Tales”.

Bronson and Tulip Litter – 7 weeks

We're 7 weeks old today! It has been an adventure-filled week! It was the puppies' first-time riding in a car! Introducing them to new experiences begins at this age. Rides in cars, sounds, meeting new people, etc. Our puppies are often taken to Home Depot, Winners, Homesense, Petsmart, and other pet-friendly stores after they receive their next set of vaccinations. While they still ride in the shopping cart, their horizons are broadening. We’ve expanded the puppies play area which is either in our kitchen, outside in the yard or on our porch depending on the weather. They enjoy playing together and are becoming more and more confident. Their play area includes toys an activity center, a crate, and tunnel.  Jolly Pets' Jolly Ball was a huge hit today. The puppies seemed to take turns carrying it! All of them weigh between 13 and 15 pounds. Their appetites are good, and momma Tulip occasionally stops by with a vanilla milkshake. Beef, turkey and chicken are among the protein

Bronson & Tulip Litter– Week 6

A very happy 6 week birthday to this eye-catching litter! We are loving every minute we have with this litter and the weeks are flying by. The milk bar continues to be provided by Tulip who is an excellent mom. We had a wonderful time outside in between the rain showers this past week. The pups are confident and didn't seem nervous at all. Immediately they were at ease in their new surroundings, sniffing and exploring this new exciting adventure. Each time they go out, they explore further into the backyard but are always under the watchful eye of Tulip. This litter continues to be very quiet, which means they are very happy and content. They are all approaching 10 pounds in weight and it amazes me from one day to the next how quickly they grow up.  Mom begins weaning the pups and teaching them discipline. Through puppy play-biting, the pup learns bite inhibition and socialization with its siblings. Normal behaviour at this age. Six-week-old puppies still have a lot to learn from t
